LaHoChi is a hands-on energy healing technique that works with the body's energy field through a simple protocol of five hand positions. Like Reiki, it requires no tools, no complex preparation, just a trained practitioner, a quiet space, and a receptive person.
How a session works
The practitioner places their hands over five areas of the body: head, shoulders and arms, torso, hips and legs, and the heart area. The energy flows through the practitioner as a channel, they are not drawing on their own reserves, which means they receive a portion of the benefits themselves during the session. Both giver and receiver are supported simultaneously.
The body uses what it needs. The energy available during a session will be absorbed fully, partially, or barely at all, depending on what the person is ready to receive at that moment, consciously or not.
What LaHoChi may support
According to its reference literature, LaHoChi works on several levels:
It helps restore the energy field when it has been disrupted by difficult experiences (past or recent trauma, surgery, radiation treatment, chronic stress, or deeply ingrained emotional or behavioural patterns).
It supports the meridian system, the energetic mapping used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and underlying practices like acupuncture and shiatsu. When energy becomes stagnant along these pathways, physical and emotional symptoms can follow. LaHoChi aims to get things moving again.
It works with the chakra system (both major and minor energy centres) to support what practitioners describe as "energy homeostasis": a return to a more balanced, harmonious internal state.
What people tend to feel
The most commonly reported experience during a LaHoChi session is a deep sense of physical relaxation accompanied by unusual mental clarity, simultaneously very present and strangely light. Some people fall asleep. Others report a feeling of warmth, release of tension, or an unexpected emotional shift.
The experience is not the same twice, and not the same for everyone.
How it differs from Reiki
LaHoChi shares the same foundational logic as Reiki: a practitioner channels universal life energy through their hands to support the body's own capacity to rebalance. The differences are structural. LaHoChi uses fewer hand positions and works without symbols at any level of practice. The sensation is often described as sharper and more intense than Reiki, with a particular focus on the meridian system alongside the chakras.
One feature specific to LaHoChi: the practitioner works within what the tradition describes as a protective energetic seal around both giver and receiver, a boundary intended to prevent the practitioner from absorbing the energies released during the session.
Both practices complement rather than replace conventional medical care.
