There are more and more Reiki practitioners in Paris. That is not bad news, it reflects a growing interest in complementary approaches to health. But it also makes the choice harder when you do not yet know what to base it on.
Here is what I suggest you look at, as a practitioner myself, and therefore with an understanding of what these criteria actually mean in practice.
Training and Transparency
Reiki is transmitted from teacher to student in a precise lineage. That lineage matters most to people training to become practitioners themselves, if that is not your goal, you do not need to know the details to make a good choice.
What matters more as a client is transparency. A practitioner who identifies openly as a Reiki Master-Teacher, and is willing to describe their training, their lineage, and their level, is generally showing you something real: reaching that level takes years, and people who have put in the work tend to say so plainly. You will sometimes see debate about certifications completed entirely online versus attunements received in person. As a client, this is not something you need to police yourself, it is more relevant to those pursuing teacher training. Openness about training is the more useful signal to look for.
The Session Framework
A serious session takes place within a clear framework: a clean and calm space, a conversation before the session, a defined duration, and a professional approach from the practitioner.
What should not be part of a Reiki session: promises of healing, or pressure to purchase a large number of sessions in advance.
Some practitioners are also intuitive. They may sense overactive chakras, unbalanced energy, or areas of tension before you have said anything about them. This is a legitimate part of many practices, not something to be suspicious of by default. What matters is how it is offered: with humility, as one part of the session, and never as a diagnosis or a substitute for medical care.
What Your Own Perception Can Tell You
Beyond training and framework, a few things worth noticing on your own:
Does the space put you at ease? Look at the photos on the practitioner's site or profile. Do they suggest a clean, calm, considered environment, one you can imagine relaxing into? A space that feels rushed, cluttered, or impersonal in its photos will likely feel that way in person too.
Do the reviews point in the same direction? Read through them not for star ratings but for pattern. If they consistently mention feeling safe, calm, and at ease, that convergence tells you something real about the experience. A handful of scattered, generic reviews tells you less than several independent people describing the same feeling.
What does your gut say? After reading the website, the reviews, and the practitioner's approach, ask yourself plainly: does this feel like the right person for me right now? Reiki is a practice built on subtlety and trust, and that instinct is a legitimate part of the decision, not a lesser one.
What Differentiates Approaches
Not all Reiki practitioners do exactly the same thing. Some work exclusively with traditional Usui Reiki. Others integrate additional modalities, LaHoChi, crystals, shamanic healing, and so on. It is worth asking directly whether a practitioner offers only Reiki, or complementary practices that might better address what brought you in.
There is no absolute hierarchy between these approaches. But it is worth knowing what to expect. Read the practitioner's about page, see whether their approach resonates with you, and do not hesitate to ask questions before booking.
What I Offer at Centre Reiki
I am a Reiki Master-Teacher in the Usui Reiki Ryōhō lineage, trained in person. My own practice combines Reiki with LaHoChi and, for clients who have already had several LaHoChi sessions, LaHoChi 13th Octave. In my experience, this combination tends to bring clients to a deeper level of relaxation and release than Reiki alone.
Centre Reiki is located at 58 rue d'Argout, Paris 2nd arrondissement, a few minutes' walk from Sentier station.
Each individual session lasts one hour and begins with a short conversation. There is no commitment to a series, you come once, observe what you feel, and decide what comes next. I follow up with you 21 days later to check in.
If you have questions before booking, you can reach me directly through the website.
About the Practitioner: Cédric Suming is a Usui Ryōhō Reiki Master Teacher, trained in person at the San Francisco Reiki Center. He also practices LaHoChi and 13th Octave LaHoChi. Founder of Centre Reiki, 58 rue d'Argout, Paris 2e.
